Made to Belong: on Jesus' Mission (4.15.18)

^{43 but he said to them, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.” (Lk 4:43, ESV)}

 

^{1.) Gospel--  L+D+R= Jesus/Everything}

The good news that Jesus’ death and resurrection proves that He is King and has victory over sin, satan and death.

 

^{16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”  (Mt 28:16–20, )}

 

^{2.) Disciples-- People who follow Jesus and learn to live like He lived and do what He did.}

 

^{3.) Baptizing-- Immersing people in Christ, specifically His body.}

 

^{4.) Teaching-- Helping people learn what they don’t know about Christ.}

 

^{46 and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, 47 and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” 50 And he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. 51 While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven. (Lk 24:46–51.)}
